CUBA INCENTIVE EVENT (5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS HAVANA)

Day 1 Welcome to Havana

On arrival at Havana International Airport, participants will be met by a CST Event Coordinator in the arrivals hall. Then they will be transferred to the hotel with their guide by luxury air-conditioned tour coaches. The transfer will take approximately 40 minutes.

The tour guide(s) and CST Event Coordinator will be available for assistance during check-in at the property. Porters will take the luggage out of the tour coach(s) and place in the hotel´s lobby for check in and then deliver to rooms.

Participants will be met with a Welcome Cocktail and live Cuban music. A pillow gift will be provided in each room.

20h30 Dinner at El Cocinero Restaurant & Night at Fábrica de Arte Cubano

(only possible if the group arrives from Thursday to Sunday)

El Cocinero restaurant is the best way to combine good food, drinks and Cuban culture. It is located on the upper floor of Fábrica de Arte Cubano (Cuban Art Factory), which is a cultural project with a unique touch. Madonna, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Rolling Stones, Michelle Obama, and all the celebrities who had visited Cuba after the recent reestablishment of relationship between Cuba and US, have felt the curiosity of living the experience of ‘art environment’ that can be enjoyed only in this place, where Cuban artists interact with the public and exceptional performances take place, such as Usher and Ludakris sharing scene with Cuban musicians. Participants will have a local specialized guide and VIP entrance to FAC (Cuban Art Factory) after dinner tonight, as well as 3 hours of drinks included.

Day 2 Havana Highlights

OPTION 1:

09h30 The Cuban people, history, and traditions

This morning participants will experience Cubans’ daily lives while exploring Old Havana with their guide. Because they will be staying in the Historic Centre, the tour will be held by walking as they will be moving all the way down Obispo Street to then meet and cover the four most important squares of Old Havana, each of which has its own character and history.

The Plaza De Armas has a peaceful atmosphere with thick, tropical vegetation sheltering an antique book market. Impressive baroque palaces surround the square such as: the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, now the housing the City Museum able to be recognized by its statue of Christopher Columbus in its Central Patio surrounded by the Cuban National trees, the Royal Palms. Then, one can visit The Plaza de San Francisco with its very impressive commercial buildings such as the old Stock Exchange and Customs House; however not the main attraction which is the Basilica de San Francisco dating back to 1580. Tour will go on with the Plaza Vieja surrounded by pastel colored town houses and almost completely restored square. The Plaza de la Catedral is the home to the exceptionally beautiful Catedral de San Cristóbal as well as important examples of early colonial architecture.

 

All the squares are linked by historic streets and a vestige of the American Nobel Prized writer Hemingway can also be felt this morning.

12h30 Lunch at a film set

After finishing the walking tour, participants will be collected to have lunch at La Guarida Restaurant, the most popular Paladar (private owned restaurant), frequented by people such as Queen of Spain, Jack Nicholson, Beyoncé and others. Located on the top floor of an old colonial building which is still the permanent residency of Cuban families, it was the setting for the popular movie ‘Strawberry & Chocolate’, Tomás Gutiérrez Alea and Juan Carlos Tabío film that was the first Cuban movie being nominee to an Academy Award.

As a great way to finish this afternoon is when participants visit ‘Fusterland’, where local artist Jose Fúster has turned the otherwise drab neighborhood into a colorful Cuban inspired mural, with mosaic benches and sculptures gradually taking over any spare space. Participants will visit Fuster’s home, a Gaudi-esque and surreal building at the heart of the district of Jaimanitas, where they may be able to meet with the artist himself and visit his workshop.

OPTION 2:

09h30 Architecture tour

This morning participants will see Havana’s diverse and colorful history through its architecture. From the original walled city which now makes up Habana Vieja, to the different ‘barrios’ of Centro Habana, Vedado and Miramar; a specialized guide will take them back in Cuba’s history while he explains the contrasting architectural styles, from elaborate baroque palaces in the old town, to the art deco styles influenced by early 20th century New York and the buildings from the Soviet era.

12h30 Sea View Lunch

After finishing the architecture tour, participants will have lunch at “Vista Mar”, recognized not only for its good food, but for the atmosphere and great views. Really beautiful photos can be taken from this place while enjoying lunch and the natural breeze coming from the sea.

NIGHT OPTION A:

22h00 Tropicana Show

As a grand finale for tonight, participants will enjoy of the Tropicana Cabaret, the world famous indigenous experience set under the stars, with over 200 artists performing on stage backed by a 30 piece orchestra. Rum, cola and nibbles are included – extra drinks can be purchased locally. There is often live music and dancing afterwards if participants would like to stay longer.

Tonight participants will have the opportunity to interact with Cuban people while they spend the night dancing at night club. Three hours of open bar with Cuban drinks will be included.

Day 3 Going outside Havana

OPTION 1:

09h00 Day Tour to Las Terrazas

Today participants have a full day tour to Las Terrazas, a small rural community set in the heart of the UNESCO biosphere reserve in the Sierra del Rosario. The area was badly affected by deforestation so an extensive regeneration project was started in 1968 and terraces were laid out for re-planting, giving Las Terrazas its name. Participants will learn about the project, its importance and goals, and will visit the French Buena Vista coffee plantation ruins, meet some local artists for interchanging on their expectations and feelings.

Upon arrival, they will be given a welcome Cocktail to enjoy while local guides present the project and its antecedent in Rancho Curujey. Depending on group size, several local guides will take them into a panoramic tour of the Community to then divide the group into subgroups to carry out different activities: trekking or resting time by the San Juan River, with boat competitions, cocktail making lessons or canopy trials for those more adventurous.

14h00- 15h00 Lunch at Buena Vista Coffee Plantation

For lunch time, participants will gather at the Buena Vista Coffee Plantation Ruins, a former French coffee plantation from where the Cuban countryside can be witnessed. As a big finale for this journey, a coffee and rum tasting will be served in ‘La Tahona’, an open door terrace where a 19th Century coffee mill stands.

OPTION 2:

08h00 Day Tour to Varadero

Today participants will visit Varadero, with its world famous pristine white power beaches and azure waters. They will stop on route at Bacunayagua Bridge, the highest one in Cuba, to try one of the best Piña Colada, freshly made from coconuts and pineapple with lots of rum, while enjoying the magnificent view of the canyon.

Once in Varadero participants will first have a panoramic tour of Varadero downtown and then continue to the beach area where they will have some activities exclusively prepared for them, such as cocktail’s lesson and contest, dancing classes, nautical activities, and they will have time to refresh themselves on this internationally recognized paradise. Beach lunch and open bar will be included.

20h30 Buena Vista Social Club performance and dinner

Buena Vista Social Club was a members club in Havana that held dances and musical activities, becoming a popular location for musicians to meet and play during the 1940s. Some of its musicians are over 80 years old and had being prized by the Grammy Awards.

Participants will first have dinner at the performance venue before enjoying the famous show. This is a great opportunity to dance at the rhythm of the best traditional Cuban music.

Day 4 Havana

OPTION 1:

09h30 Hemingway tour (Not available on Sundays)

Hemingway loved Cuba. His writing and his life story is tightly bound up with the history of the island both before and after the Revolution. About 15 kilometers East of Havana, participants will visit the farmhouse that Ernest Hemingway lived in. They will then head back to the little fishing village of Cojímar, which inspired Hemingway for his Nobel Prize winning novel, “The Old Man and the Sea”. His fishing boat El Pilar is also on display here. Lunch will be included as part of this tour in El Ajíaco (Cojímar local restaurant).

OPTION 2:

09h30 Santeria tour

Religion in Cuba has a colorful history and this tour will focus specifically on the ‘Santeria’ culture and its relationship with Christianity. Participants will visit the famous Orishas museum & Yoruba Association where a Santeria priest (Babalawo) will meet them to summarize the main aspects of this religion, tell them its history & antecedents, and tell them of its fortune. This would be a fascinating look at a lesser known aspect of Cuban culture, outside of the traditional tourist trail. By the end of the tour, a living music Orishas women orchestra will perform to demonstrate the relation between art & religion.

18h30 Classic American car experience & farewell party

With its chrome sparkling and bright colors gleaming, the most beautiful American cars of the 1950’s can be seen, driving the streets of Cuba every day. Over the years, necessity has dictated that the cars are maintained with great care, since the Americans left the island in 1959 without leaving any spare parts behind. In almost every alley, there’ll be an old American car, jealously guarded and cared for, just waiting for a drive. Driving in one of these cars takes you back to another era.

This evening participants will live an authentic and unique experience, only possible in Cuba. They will start traveling by the best classic American cars of the city to the area where they will enjoy a “Fast & Furious” style open hood exhibition of these jewels, followed by a great beach party with salsa and cocktail lessons, open bar, music, seafood dinner and much more fun.

If Day Tour to Varadero will be included on Day 3, farewell party will be arranged in a different venue but beach; such as Hotel Nacional, Gran Teatro de La Habana or Beer Factory depending on the style. It usually includes welcome cocktail and appetizers accompanied by small format life musicians or carnival style welcoming, followed by dinner, open bar, life music performance and show.

Day 5 Havana & Departure Day

This morning participants will have the option of going with their guide to Havana’s Arts and Crafts Market, where genuine local hand-made goods and paintings can be purchased or just staying at leisure at the hotel.

Check out is normally at 12h00 (we usually arrange late checkout per room or provision of a number of rooms for refreshing and changing, subject to availability).

Transfer by tour coach(s) to Havana International Airport accompanied with CST Event Coordinator and tour guide(s).

Check in for outbound flight.
